Parisian inspired cocktail lounge

MON AMOUR

Chartreuse Lounge is our loving and unashamed homage to Paris and the world famous French digestive. Offering a selection of signature cocktails, including Espresso Martinis, French wines and a range of international beers. Chartreuse Lounge is the perfect place to escape and relax within a comfortable and luxurious setting before or after dining.

À L’INTÉRIEUR

Think night-time Montmartre as portrayed by the Moulin Rouge’s famous habitué Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec – this is the set for our romance with France. The ceilings, cornices and walls all boast intricate details emulating the craftsmen of yesteryear: classic acanthus leaf patterns, rococo fretwork and fish scale marble work, are modulated with coffers and panels to sit comfortably side by side.

COCKTAIL DE PRÉFÉRÉ

The choice cocktail at Chartreuse Lounge at the moment is the classic aperitivo – Negroni. A popular Italian cocktail, made of one part gin, one part vermouth rosso (red, semi-sweet), and one part Campari, garnished with orange peel. A traditionally made Negroni is stirred, not shaken, and built over ice in an old-fashioned or rocks glass and garnished with a slice of orange. Outside of Italy an orange peel is often used in place of an orange slice.

While the drink’s origins are unknown, the most widely reported account is that it was first mixed in Florence, Italy, in 1919, at Caffè Casoni. Pascal Olivier Count de Negroni concocted it by asking the bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to strengthen his favourite cocktail, the Americano, by adding gin rather than the normal soda water. The bartender also added an orange garnish rather than the typical lemon garnish of the Americano to signify that it was a different drink.
